Where shall we begin?

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like there's no way out? You’re not alone—we can find a path forward together. Even if past counseling didn’t seem to help, there’s hope. I’m here to help you lift the weight of anxiety, depression, or whatever has been holding you back.

I’m Melynda Thompson and as a mental health professional, I support my clients through challenges like anxiety, depression, and big life changes. I work with teens (16 and older) and adults who are navigating tough decisions, whether it’s starting a career, school stress, whether you should move in with someone, or figuring out how to “adult” in today’s world. If you’re feeling stuck and want straightforward, practical tools to manage anxiety and start moving forward, I’m here to support you. Let’s connect and begin this journey, together.

My Approach to Supporting You

As your therapist, I take an active approach to listening, you can tell me about your daily struggles and ongoing stress, and I’ll offer insights and feedback on the challenges that you’re living with. During our time in therapy, we’ll talk about whatever is on your mind – your worries, your feelings, everything that's swirling around. I’ll be here, getting to know your experience, your relationships, and where you get stuck. Your thoughts, feelings, and even those sometimes hard-to-describe sensations – they all matter to me - because understanding who you are and how you experience the world, will help me to know the best approach to supporting your growth.

Yes, You Live With Anxiety - And Relief Is Possible

If you’re feeling not just general anxiety, but dread and worry about all of the uncertainty within our world these days, that is understandable. The world can be a scary place, and I’m not going to try and convince you that everything is fine, when there’s a lot that could be improved. But what if I told you, that you can live with uncertainty, and still find peace in your daily existence? Therapy can’t change the world, but it can help you to find within yourself a calm and grounded centre that you can carry with you no matter what life throws at you.

We can work on taking things day by day, and letting go of the unknown, so that it no longer overwhelms you. You can learn how to avoid getting pulled into a cycle of anxiety that is hard to get out of. You’ll have new tools and methods to untangle yourself from your worries, so that you can be more present in your daily life and have better relationships and experiences.

My Commitment to Helping Others As A Therapist Began with Self-Care

I've experienced the transformational power of therapy personally. It helped me during several big moments in my life, and I vividly recall the profound sensation of being heard, understood, and acknowledged. Therapy allowed me to tap into my sense of agency and build confidence in my life choices. As a therapist, my goal is to provide this same supportive environment for you.

Is Now the Right Time for You to Get Support?

You deserve care, and someone who will listen, and help you to find new ways to cope, and to begin to thrive. I have, all my life, been someone who loves to listen, to support, and to provide care and compassion to those who feel looked over or dismissed. If you wish to be heard, seen, and supported, please reach out, I’m accepting new clients.
